The City of Newburgh announced on Apr. 9 that its free bulk item collection program for 2026 will begin on June 24, with three citywide pickup dates scheduled throughout the year.

The program is designed to help residents dispose of large household items at no cost, making it easier to keep neighborhoods clean and organized. The collection dates are set for Wednesday, June 24; Wednesday, September 30; and Wednesday, December 16.

Accepted items include indoor and outdoor furniture, washers and dryers, and tires. Construction materials, auto parts (except tires), and hazardous items will not be collected. Residents are limited to five items per pickup date; any additional items must be removed by the resident.

To participate in the program, residents must register in advance with the Department of Public Works Sanitation Division by calling (845) 565-1082 or the Department of Public Works at (845) 565-3297 no later than 3:00 p.m. on the Friday before each scheduled pickup date. Once registered, bulky items should be placed at the curb no earlier than the night before collection day. For multi-unit buildings, pickups will be scheduled based on each individual unit.

Arrangements for off-schedule bulk item pickups must be made separately from this program. More information about bulk item and yard waste collection is available on the city’s website at https://www.cityofnewburgh-ny.gov/236/Bulk-Items-Yard-Waste-Pick-up.

The city encourages all eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity to properly dispose of large unwanted items.
