The City of Newburgh announced on Apr. 9 that its free bulk item pickup program for 2026 will begin on June 24, with three citywide collection dates planned throughout the year.

The program aims to help residents dispose of large household items at no cost, making it easier to keep neighborhoods clean and reduce illegal dumping. The scheduled collection dates are Wednesday, June 24; Wednesday, September 30; and Wednesday, December 16.

Accepted items include indoor and outdoor furniture, washers and dryers, and tires. However, building materials, car parts other than tires, and hazardous items will not be collected. Each household can schedule a pickup for up to five items per collection date. Any additional items beyond the limit will not be picked up and must be removed by the resident.

Residents must register in advance with the Department of Public Works Sanitation Division by calling (845) 565-1082 or the Department of Public Works at (845) 565-3297 before 3:00 p.m. on the Friday prior to their chosen collection date. Once scheduled, bulk items should be placed curbside no earlier than the night before pickup. Multi-unit dwellings may also participate by referencing their individual unit when scheduling.

For those needing pickups outside these designated days or more information about yard waste removal, details are available on the City’s website at https://www.cityofnewburgh-ny.gov/236/Bulk-Items-Yard-Waste-Pick-up.

This initiative provides residents with an organized way to dispose of bulky waste while supporting community cleanliness.
