Garnet Health Medical Center partners with NYBC for summer blood drive

Garnet Health Medical Center will host a blood drive in partnership with the New York Blood Center (NYBC) on Tuesday, August 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at 707 East Main Street, Middletown, NY, in Conference Rooms 1, 2 and 3.

The hospital’s Level II Trauma Center and Emergency Department are organizing the drive to address the seasonal drop in blood donations that occurs during summer months. Travel and school breaks often lead to fewer donors while accidents and trauma cases tend to increase. Blood transfusions remain essential for patients undergoing surgery, those receiving cancer treatment, or people living with chronic conditions.

Garnet Health Medical Center emphasized its commitment to patient care through this initiative. “Garnet Health Medical Center’s Level II Trauma Center and Emergency Department has a firsthand understanding of just how important blood donations can be, as many of the patients they care for rely on blood transfusions during life-threatening situations. They are committed to providing all patients with exceptional care, which is why they’ve partnered with NYBC, one of the largest nonprofit blood collection and distribution organizations, to help meet the ongoing demand. Together, they share a common goal: to ensure lifesaving blood is always available for those who need it most.”

Those interested in donating can schedule an appointment at donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/333122 or call (917) 710-9139 for more information.

Garnet Health Medical Center is part of Garnet Health, a nonprofit organization formed by merging Arden Hill Hospital and Horton Medical Center into a single facility in Middletown in August 2011. The hospital has seven floors equipped with modern technology and provides services including diagnostic imaging and laboratory work.
