Garnet Health Medical Center’s Ray W. Moody, MD Breast Center has announced the availability of patient navigator services for individuals undergoing breast cancer care. The center provides support from initial screening and diagnosis through treatment and follow-up.
Aimee Monastero, CMA, leads the patient navigation program at the center. She began her career in 2015 as an authorization specialist and has since gained experience in radiology and breast oncology. Previously, she worked as a patient navigator at Westchester Medical Center, assisting newly diagnosed breast cancer and breast disease patients under the supervision of the medical director of the breast center.
Monastero holds an associate degree in cardiovascular sonography and is a certified medical assistant. She received certification in patient navigation from the George Washington Cancer Center in Washington, D.C., and is pursuing additional certifications through American Cancer Society LION training.
The Ray W. Moody, MD Breast Center offers several diagnostic services including screening and diagnostic mammography, 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, fine needle aspiration (FNA), ultrasound-guided FNA/vacuum-assisted breast biopsy, and galactograms. The program combines wellness initiatives with early detection efforts, rapid diagnosis capabilities, advanced therapies, a dedicated patient navigator role, and community support programs.
Garnet Health Medical Center operates as part of Garnet Health—a nonprofit organization formed by merging Arden Hill Hospital and Horton Medical Center. In August 2011, Garnet Health Medical Center opened its current facility in Middletown, New York—the first new hospital built in New York state in over two decades at that time. The hospital features seven floors equipped with modern technology and provides 383 beds staffed by more than 2,400 healthcare professionals. Over 600 doctors are affiliated with the hospital to serve area residents. Outpatient services such as diagnostic imaging and laboratory testing are also available on-site following consolidation into a new outpatient building on the main campus.
