Garnet Health Medical Center’s Occupational Health and Wellness Department will collaborate with the New York Blood Center (NYBC) to hold a blood drive on January 28. The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 707 East Main Street, Middletown, NY.
The initiative comes during National Blood Donor Month, a period when blood donations typically decrease due to seasonal factors such as holidays, winter weather, and increased illness in the community. This reduction can heighten the risk of blood shortages.
A representative from Garnet Health Medical Center’s Occupational Health and Wellness Department said, “patients in our community who are undergoing surgery, receiving cancer treatment or living with a chronic condition rely on regular blood transfusions, no matter the time of year. That’s why they are proud to partner with NYBC, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood collection and distribution organizations, to help meet the ongoing demand. Together, we share a common goal: to ensure lifesaving blood is always available for those who need it most.”
Community members can participate by walking in or scheduling an appointment through donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/334507. Additional information is available by calling (800) 933-2566.
