Orange County, New York – Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall (MSLC) recently took part in a countywide emergency response exercise organized by the Orange County OEM. The large-scale mass casualty simulation involved an international plane crash into the Hudson River, aimed at testing the crisis response capabilities of local hospitals and the county.

Dr. Shahram Ahari, Director of Emergency Medicine, and Marc Harrington, Emergency Management Coordinator, led MSLC’s participation in this critical training exercise.

The drill included key disaster response elements such as setting up multiple helicopter landing zones for quick transport of stabilized burn patients. It also evaluated coordination with family reunification services to ensure both patient care and emotional support during emergencies.
