Rep. Pat Ryan, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district since 2022, used his social media platform on September 24, 2025, to address healthcare concerns in the Hudson Valley and honor a local veteran.
In a post from that day, Ryan wrote: “Trump’s cuts are a burden that the Hudson Valley simply can’t afford. It impacts us all – kicking hard working folks off their health care, raising costs, and closing hospitals & clinics. Today I proudly stood with healthcare leaders & workers on the frontline of this battle.” The congressman emphasized his ongoing efforts to resist federal budget reductions affecting local healthcare services.
In a subsequent tweet posted on the same day, Ryan stated: “We fought hard to stop the cuts because we knew the devastation they would cause – now our fight is against these harms on the ground, wherever and whenever they arise:” He included a link directing followers to further information about his actions.
Later that afternoon, Ryan shifted focus to recognize Airman Apprentice Donny Herring’s service and memory. He shared: “Airman Apprentice Donny Herring was a hero in every sense. He was unfailingly generous & resilient. His legacy lives on in those he uplifted & inspired. Grateful my team could join Dutchess County’s Honor-A-Vet & present his family with a Congressional Record in his memory.”
Ryan has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 18th District since replacing Antonio Delgado in 2022 and previously held office in the New York House of Representatives. Born in Kingston, New York in 1982 and currently residing in Gardiner, Ryan graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
