Rep. Pat Ryan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 18th district, has been actively communicating with his constituents through social media. His recent tweets highlight his ongoing efforts and concerns regarding community support and public transportation services.

On July 8, 2025, Rep. Ryan announced an upcoming event involving his C.A.R.E.S. Van team at the Florida Farmers Market. He emphasized the importance of providing direct support to individuals, stating “My C.A.R.E.S. Van team will be at the Florida Farmers Market starting at 10am with the direct, one-on-one support YOU deserve.” This initiative aims to address questions and assist community members directly.

Later that day, Ryan expressed criticism toward the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for its decision to discontinue a ferry service essential to Hudson Valley commuters. He described this action as “a reckless abandonment of the people it’s supposed to serve”, vowing to advocate for restoring this service as he believes it is a betrayal of public trust.

Additionally, Ryan voiced opposition to the MTA’s plan to shut down the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry service. He argued that instead of reducing options, there should be an increase in transit availability and cost reductions for families in Hudson Valley. In his view, “The NYC-centric MTA takes our tax dollars, then turns its back on our community.”

Pat Ryan has served in Congress since replacing Antonio Delgado in 2022 and previously held a position in the New York House of Representatives. Born in Kingston, New York in 1982, he now resides in Gardiner and holds a degree from the United States Military Academy.
