Rep. Pat Ryan, who serves as the U.S. Congressman for New York’s 18th district, posted a series of messages on August 18, 2025, recognizing community leaders and historical milestones.
In his first message, Ryan paid tribute to a local figure: “Dawn was a true champion for Orange County – from her leadership of the SUNY Orange Foundation to her dedication to the Orange County Arts Council. Rebecca & I send our deepest condolences to her loved ones. Her inspiring passion for our community will be greatly missed.” (August 18, 2025).
Later that day, Ryan marked the anniversary of a key moment in U.S. history by stating: “Today, we celebrate 105 years since the 19th Amendment was ratified, granting women the right to vote. We honor the suffragists who courageously fought to better our country & strengthen our democracy by protecting every American’s right to equal access to the ballot box.” (August 18, 2025).
In his final post of the day, he congratulated an academic leader: “A big congrats to @SUNY_Orange’s very own Dr. Mayda Gonzalez-Bosch on this tremendous accomplishment! The Hudson Valley is lucky to have your leadership, commitment to our students, & innovative research.” (August 18, 2025).
Pat Ryan has represented New York’s 18th District in Congress since replacing Antonio Delgado in 2022. Prior to his congressional role, he served in the New York House of Representatives and is an alumnus of the United States Military Academy with a degree earned in 2004. Born in Kingston in 1982, Ryan currently resides in Gardiner.
