Rep. Pat Ryan, who represents New York’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, announced on September 3, 2025, that his bipartisan “Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act” has passed the House of Representatives.
In a tweet posted at 15:59 UTC, Ryan stated: “Proud that my bipartisan “Stop Chinese Fentanyl Act” passed the House. The CCP is pumping deadly fentanyl into our communities – it’s time to hold them accountable. This is a big win in the fight against the opioid crisis.” He emphasized holding the Chinese Communist Party responsible for fentanyl trafficking and described the legislation as an important step in combating opioid abuse.
Shortly after, at 15:59 UTC, Ryan called for further action from lawmakers, writing: “Now it’s time for the Senate to send this commonsense bill to the President’s desk. I’ll work with anyone to build a safer Hudson Valley – for my kids & for yours:”
Later that day at 17:31 UTC, Ryan addressed another legislative matter related to transparency and justice for survivors. He tweeted: “Signed. Now unseal the files. Deliver for the American people. I’ll keep fighting for the transparency the American people were promised and for the justice that survivors are owed.”
Ryan has represented New York’s 18th District since replacing Antonio Delgado in Congress in 2022 and previously served in New York state government. Born in Kingston, New York in 1982 and residing in Gardiner, Ryan graduated from United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004.
