Rep. Pat Ryan, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district, used his Twitter account on January 22, 2026, to highlight new funding for first responders and efforts to address utility costs in his community.
In a tweet posted at 18:04 UTC, Ryan expressed gratitude for recent state funding to support emergency services: “Our first responders are heroes & we are all safer when they have the equipment they need. Grateful for Gov. Hochul’s $3M in state funding for communication equipment for Ulster Co first responders – it will go a long way in helping our EMS teams coordinate efforts & save lives!”
Later that day at 20:43 UTC, Ryan addressed longstanding concerns about local utility practices, writing: “For years, I’ve led the charge against Central Hudson’s exploitative practices & the system that puts the profits of corporate utility monopolies above the good of our community. Now, @RepRileyNY & I are expanding that fight by forming the Lowering Utility Bills Caucus.” He continued in a follow-up post at the same time: “That’s why we’re coming together to hold these monopolistic utility companies accountable, bring down costs for consumers, & fix the predatory system once and for all.”
Pat Ryan has represented New York’s 18th District in Congress since replacing Antonio Delgado in 2022 and previously served in the New York House of Representatives. Born in Kingston, New York in 1982 and currently residing in Gardiner, Ryan is an alumnus of the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree earned in 2004.
