Rep. Pat Ryan, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district, marked the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act with a series of posts on August 14, 2025, highlighting his ongoing efforts to safeguard the program for constituents in his district.
In a post published at 13:53 UTC, Ryan stated, “Today marks 90 years since the Social Security Act was signed into law by NY-18’s very own President Franklin Roosevelt. Every day, I’m fighting to protect Social Security for the over 150,000 NY-18 seniors, disabled workers, widows, & children who rely on the vital program.”
Later that day at 15:00 UTC, Ryan outlined legislative steps he is pursuing through new legislation. He wrote, “No one should ever worry that they won’t receive their Social Security. That’s why my Protecting Social Security Act will:
Prevent cuts to Social Security
Require every county to have a Social Security Office
Ensure that Social Security funding never runs dry”.
