Rep. Pat Ryan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 18th district since 2022, has recently expressed his views on legislative and community matters through social media posts. Born in Kingston, New York, Ryan is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and currently resides in Gardiner.
On July 3, 2025, Rep. Pat Ryan shared his strong opposition to a newly passed bill. “Today, I voted strongly against this bill, which is a betrayal of my constituents and the American people,” he stated. He criticized the legislation as “fundamentally unfair and un-American,” expressing anger that it had become law. Ryan described it as a “Big Ugly Betrayal” due to its significant cuts to healthcare.
The following day, July 4, 2025, Rep. Ryan extended his best wishes for Independence Day celebrations across the Hudson Valley. “Wishing everyone across the Hudson Valley a Happy Fourth of July!” he wrote. He emphasized the importance of celebrating America’s founding principles of freedom and democracy while honoring those who have fought for these ideals since 1776.
Later on July 4th, Rep. Ryan participated in local festivities by attending the annual Independence Day Parade in Hyde Park. “It was great to join so many folks in Hyde Park for the annual Independence Day Parade today!” he remarked, expressing gratitude towards Supervisor Torreggiani for hosting him and highlighting the unique spirit of celebration in the Hudson Valley.
Pat Ryan replaced Antonio Delgado in Congress after serving in the New York House of Representatives.
