Rep. Pat Ryan, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district since 2022, addressed several issues affecting his constituents in a series of posts on July 29, 2025.
In response to ongoing high temperatures in the region, Ryan advised residents to take safety measures. On July 29, he posted: “With dangerous heat continuing today, please practice precautions to stay safe. If you’re outside seek shade if you can, stay hydrated, and know the signs of heat-related illness.”
Later that day, Ryan commented on local transportation concerns following news about the planned closure of the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). He wrote: “When our community discovered the MTA planned to close our Newburgh-Beacon Ferry, we came out & rallied in force. We’re not giving up this fight.” The ferry is an important transit link for many residents in the Hudson Valley area.
That evening, Ryan expressed condolences regarding a recent loss impacting two local communities. He stated: “Rebecca and I send our deepest condolences to Amalio’s loved ones and the Beacon and Goshen communities. This is an absolute tragedy — may our Hudson Valley community come together to honor his memory.”
Pat Ryan was born in Kingston, New York in 1982 and currently resides in Gardiner. He graduated from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the New York House of Representatives.
