Rep. Pat Ryan, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district since 2022, has been vocal on social media about his legislative priorities and initiatives. His recent tweets reflect his ongoing efforts to address issues related to pharmaceutical pricing and consumer rights in broadcasting.

On January 29, 2025, Rep. Pat Ryan criticized the pharmaceutical industry for exploiting the system to achieve high profits at the expense of consumers. He announced his advocacy for the “Stopping Pharma’s Ripoffs and Drug Savings for All Act,” aiming to hold major pharmaceutical companies accountable and reduce prescription drug costs. “For too long, Big Pharma has been allowed to game the system, rake in record profits, and rip us all off.”

In another tweet posted on January 29, 2025, Rep. Ryan reiterated his commitment to reducing costs across various sectors despite changes in Congress composition. He stated: “It may be a new Congress, but the goal remains the same: lowering costs, wherever and whenever possible.”

Two days later, on January 31, 2025, Rep. Ryan addressed an issue affecting sports fans in the Tri-State area who were unable to watch certain games due to disputes between large corporations. In collaboration with Chris Murphy from Connecticut, he proposed legislation ensuring that cable companies refund customers if games are blacked out. As he noted: “My new bill with @ChrisMurphyCT fixes that: if a game gets blacked out, the cable company gives your money back.”
