Rep. Pat Ryan, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district, posted a series of tweets on January 22, 2026, criticizing Central Hudson’s rate increases and executive bonuses, as well as expressing concerns about the operations of ICE under former President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security.
In a tweet posted at 20:43 UTC, Ryan questioned the fairness of recent decisions by Central Hudson: “We have to ask ourselves, what kind of system would let Central Hudson jack up its rates by 9.5%, give their own executives tens of millions in bonuses, and pretend it’s a win for Hudson Valley families? The answer is a fundamentally broken one.”
Later that evening at 23:21 UTC, he referenced community opposition to these actions: “With this vote, our Hudson Valley community is sending a strong, united message: we strongly reject their abuse of power:”
In another post made at the same time, Ryan addressed concerns about federal immigration enforcement practices: “ICE already has a budget that is larger than most countries’ militaries. Trump’s DHS absolutely refuses to hold ICE accountable – giving them the green light to use excessive force to move into our communities, terrorize our neighbors, & make us all less safe. Enough.”
Pat Ryan has represented New York’s 18th District in Congress since 2022 after succeeding Antonio Delgado. Before his congressional service, he was a member of the New York House of Representatives. Born in Kingston in 1982 and currently residing in Gardiner, Ryan graduated from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004.
