Rep. Pat Ryan, who represents New York’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight community events and public safety concerns in the Hudson Valley.
On August 5, 2025, Ryan marked National Night Out by emphasizing the importance of community engagement with law enforcement. He stated, “On National Night Out, we celebrate & strengthen the bond between our local law enforcement & communities. Proud to partner with law enforcement depts across the Hudson Valley to serve you by bringing the CARES Van & assistance with federal programs to tonight’s celebrations!”
Later that evening, he turned attention to cultural festivities in the region. In a post about La Guelaguetza, an annual event celebrating Oaxacan traditions in the Hudson Valley, Ryan wrote on August 5: “La Guelaguetza is a highlight of Hudson Valley summers, bringing us together to celebrate & share in Oaxacan traditions & culture. I presented festival organizers with a Congressional Record, etching their invaluable contributions to our community into our nation’s history.”
Addressing public health on August 6 amid environmental concerns, Ryan cautioned residents about air quality due to wildfire smoke: “It’s not just summer haze out there – it’s wildfire smoke! Please stay safe & take precautions while the air quality advisory remains in effect until tonight, especially those with breathing difficulties.”
Pat Ryan has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 18th District since 2022 after succeeding Antonio Delgado. He was born in Kingston and currently resides in Gardiner. Prior to his congressional role, he served in the New York House of Representatives and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2004.
