Rep. Pat Ryan, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district, used his social media platform in early November 2025 to highlight support for veterans, announce constituent services in Ulster and Orange counties, and express concern about the treatment of an Afghan ally.
On November 9, Ryan posted a message of gratitude to local organizers of a Veterans Appreciation Day event. He wrote, “I want to give a big thank you to Heroes, Cowboys & Companions – especially Dwayne and Jacque – for organizing yesterday’s Veterans Appreciation Day Picnic at American Legion Post 1308 Pine Bush. We must always honor Hudson Valley veterans, their sacrifice & their service.”
The following day, Ryan announced outreach efforts by his team: “This week, my team will be in Ulster & Orange counties to assist you with federal programs like Social Security, Medicare, VA benefits, & more! If you need help, but can’t attend an event, please give my team a call at (845) 443-2930.” The message underscored ongoing constituent services related to federal assistance programs.
Later on November 10, Ryan addressed the case of an Afghan ally detained after supporting U.S. forces. He stated: “Anyone who risked their life for our country deserves our respect, support, and a shot at the American dream. It’s exactly what the asylum process is for, and the fact that Ali – who risked so much to help our country fight the Taliban – is sitting in jail is deeply unjust and”
Pat Ryan has served as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 18th District since replacing Antonio Delgado in 2022. Before joining Congress he was a member of the New York House of Representatives. Born in Kingston in 1982 and currently residing in Gardiner, Ryan graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
