Rep. Pat Ryan, who represents New York’s 18th district in the U.S. Congress, marked significant local and historical events in a series of social media posts from September 2-3, 2025.

On September 2, Ryan commemorated the anniversary of World War II’s conclusion by stating, “Today marks 80 years since WWII ended – it was the culmination of innumerable selfless sacrifices & acts of profound heroism from service members made to protect freedom. We must honor their legacies by continuing the fight to defend democracy – today, tomorrow, & always.”

Later that day, he highlighted his team’s participation with a community organization: “So glad my team could join the Love Quest Foundation for the screening of Valeisha Butterfield’s film The Memo & present Valeisha & the Foundation with a Congressional Record thanking them for their dedication to youth and community empowerment through arts and culture.” This event recognized efforts supporting youth and cultural engagement.

On September 3, Ryan congratulated a local business group: “A huge congrats to the Orange County Chamber of Commerce on being named the New York Chamber of the Year! Our local businesses are the lifeblood of our communities & I’m proud to work alongside Board President Heather Bell & the Chamber to keep Orange County thriving!”

Ryan has represented New York’s 18th district since 2022 after replacing Antonio Delgado. Before serving in Congress, he held office in the New York House of Representatives. Born in Kingston, New York in 1982 and currently residing in Gardiner, Ryan is an alumnus of the United States Military Academy at West Point (Class of 2004).
