Rep. Pat Ryan, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 18th district since 2022, used his social media platform on July 31, 2025, to highlight the importance of national parks and address proposed changes at a local military hospital.
In one post acknowledging the end of National Parks & Recreation Month, Ryan thanked those dedicated to preserving public lands. On July 31, he wrote: “As National Parks & Rec Month ends, I want to thank the countless employees, environmental & wildlife scientists, historians, advocates & volunteers who are dedicated to preserving our national lands, parks, & historic sites for future generations.”
He continued in another message posted the same day: “These sites are crucial shared natural wonders, history, & experiences that unite us as Americans. Your work is invaluable to ensuring that all Americans, today & in the future, have access to them, and we are all grateful.”
Later on July 31st, Ryan raised concerns about healthcare services at West Point’s Keller Army Community Hospital. He stated: “Trump’s Defense Health Agency plans to slash services at West Point’s Keller Army Community Hospital. We must work together to improve medical care in the Hudson Valley, not degrade it further. The last thing we need is fewer options – I’m demanding DHA reverse this decision:”
Ryan has represented New York’s 18th District since replacing Antonio Delgado in Congress in 2022 and previously served in the New York House of Representatives. Born in Kingston in 1982 and currently residing in Gardiner at age 41, Ryan is also an alumnus of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
