Greene County issued the following announcement on Oct 8.
Greene County is now utilizing the immediacy of Social Media to provide residents with up-to-date information on County events, initiatives, and the work of the Greene County Legislature.
“Specific agencies and departments of the county have been utilizing social media for years”, says Deputy County Administrator – Warren Hart. “but these platforms are followed by people interested in specific subjects like Tourism, Buying Local, Public Health, Economic Development and Law Enforcement. Social media has now become the portal for the 21st century, and this reality led us to create a Facebook account that will distribute alerts, events, and actions undertaken by Greene County Government quickly and effectively.”
To be clear, the social media accounts of individual county agencies and departments will not be going away. Individual agencies have significant social media followings of their own, and will continue to provide specific information relevant to their areas of responsibility and concern. The new Greene County, NY Government Facebook page will simply augment county communications with updates and information on county-wide matters.
All Greene County residents are invited to Like and Follow the new Facebook page @GreeneCountyNewYork
