In a recent statement regarding the governor’s budget proposal, Assemblyman Karl Brabenec expressed his disappointment and concerns about the fiscal direction of New York. Brabenec, a representative from the 98th District, did not hold back in sharing his thoughts on the budget presentation.

"Any optimism I had that New York was preparing to turn itself around from the fiscal irresponsibility of its past was dashed after hearing our governor’s official budget proposal," stated Brabenec. He acknowledged the importance of discussions about increasing aid, particularly for schools and seniors. However, he made it clear that he could not support a budget that he believes allocates excessive taxpayer funds to programs that are detrimental to the state's financial well-being.

Brabenec criticized the budget wish list for its heavy spending on programs that he perceives as draining the state's resources and contributing to population outflow. "It’s fiscal irresponsibility at its most obvious," he remarked, highlighting his strong stance against what he views as mismanagement of public funds.

The assemblyman's remarks reflect a deep concern for the financial health and sustainability of New York, signaling a divergence in opinion from the governor's proposed budget priorities. As discussions and debates unfold regarding the state's fiscal decisions, Brabenec's perspective adds a critical voice to the dialogue surrounding budget allocations and financial responsibility.
