Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C-Schoharie) has expressed his disappointment over the lack of consistent funding directed towards New York's veteran organizations. In a statement made today in Albany, Tague highlighted the issue of donations being collected by the state for various veteran-related expenses, yet the disbursements have been non-existent.
Tague emphasized the importance of providing support to veterans, stating, "The veterans that return to their home state deserve a warmer welcome than they have so far been receiving, and it’s unfortunate this government has failed them in that regard." He also pointed out the discrepancy between the funds raised for veterans and their families and the actual disbursement of these funds, saying, "This state, in partnership with veterans’ organizations, has helped raise millions for veterans and their families, yet the state has yet to disperse these collected funds in full."
The Assemblyman called for immediate action, stressing, "There is no excuse for a delay in providing financial relief to our men and women of the armed forces, and I hope this government soon understands the importance of that." Tague's remarks reflect a growing concern among legislators about the need to prioritize funding and support for veterans in the state of New York.
