In a major expansion by the Sullivan County Legislature of a three-year-old program, Move Sullivan buses are now providing service to 18 new stops and 8 communities, in addition to the existing two dozen stops across 10 locations.
“This Legislature is all about getting residents and visitors what they need,” said Legislature Chairman Robert A. Doherty. “We’re devoting the necessary resources to make that happen, including this huge expansion of our public transportation service, Move Sullivan.”
“From launching two new routes to providing every ride at no cost to passengers, Sullivan County is serious about making this work,” affirmed County Manager Joshua Potosek. “I think it’s one of the most worthwhile new projects we’ve undertaken, and I thank the Legislature for supporting its growth.”
“The creation of Move Sullivan in 2019 marked the beginning of an effort to transform the lives of people who otherwise would find it incredibly challenging just to get across town,” added Division of Community Resources Commissioner Laura Quigley, who spearheaded the launch of the service. “I’m proud to say we’ve done just that – making it possible for anyone to get to their jobs, their healthcare providers, and their local merchants.”
“This expansion of Move Sullivan is another big step taken by Sullivan County to connect our communities. Expanding access to services and job opportunities is critical in the economic development of our County,” stated Nick Vallone, executive vice president of Rolling V Bus, whose staff operate and maintain the buses via County contract. “Rolling V is proud to be the provider of Move Sullivan.”
