Rep. Pat Ryan, representing New York's 18th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of tweets addressing both Valentine's Day and issues concerning veterans in the Hudson Valley area. His posts highlighted community involvement and advocacy for veterans' rights.
On February 14, 2025, Rep. Pat Ryan expressed gratitude to participants of the "Valentines for Veterans" initiative. He acknowledged contributions from various community members, including students from the Webutuck Central School District. "Happy Valentine’s Day Hudson Valley! And a huge thank you to everyone who participated in Valentines for Veterans this year, including the students of the Webutuck Central School District!"
Later that day, Ryan addressed concerns within the veteran community regarding decisions made by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He called on collective action to support veterans, emphasizing his commitment not to let the VA neglect their duties. "The Hudson Valley veteran community is rightfully up in arms, and it’s on all of us to join the fight. We will not stand by and let the VA turn their back on our veterans."
In another tweet posted simultaneously, Ryan reiterated his stance on veterans as heroes and criticized the VA for not fulfilling its obligations. He specifically demanded that inpatient beds at Castle Point be reopened to meet veterans' needs. "Our veterans are heroes, and they have fulfilled their oath. I will not and cannot tolerate the VA not fulfilling theirs. The VA must reopen the inpatient beds at Castle Point."
