Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) released the following statement on the Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023:

“Today, I voted to advance negotiations to avoid a default on our debt, rein in uncontrolled federal spending, and strengthen Social Security & Medicare. The bill also preserves protections for SNAP and programs that vulnerable New Yorkers rely on, ensuring no aspect of these programs are altered for seniors, pregnant women, individuals with disabilities, or families with children.

“We arrived at this point because President Biden and former Speaker Pelosi oversaw dramatic expansions of federal spending, which spiked inflation and sped our nation toward the debt limit. While today’s bill is not perfect, it’s a starting point, and should compel President Biden to finally come to the negotiating table. This is not a partisan issue; and President Biden should stop playing politics with the debt limit. We can achieve bipartisan agreement that avoids a national default and bends the rate of federal spending to protect future generations - it’s the obligation of the President to negotiate."
