Assemblyman Chris Tague has announced the distribution of grant funding to volunteer fire departments in the 102nd Assembly District. The Volunteer Fire Infrastructure and Response Equipment (V-FIRE) Grant, advocated by Tague and his colleagues, aims to support local volunteer firefighter departments.

Tague expressed his satisfaction with the grant distribution, stating, “It really is just a pleasure to be able to offer this kind of support to our volunteer firefighter departments because they really deserve it.” He emphasized the crucial role that volunteer firefighters play in community safety.

The funding will be used for facility upgrades and equipment purchases across several firehouses. Notable allocations include $61,919 to Arkville Fire District for facility maintenance and $500,000 to Big Indian-Oliverea Fire Company for similar purposes. Other recipients include Central Bridge Fire District with $132,900, Kortright Rural Fire District with $30,000 for equipment, and Leeds Hose Co. No. 1 receiving $1 million.

Additional grants were given to Niagara Engine Company No. 6, Inc., Richmondville Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., Schoharie County Office of Emergency Services, and Stamford Joint Fire District for various maintenance and equipment needs.

Tague concluded by acknowledging the dedication of these volunteers: “Our volunteer firefighters are dedicated, hardworking and uncomplaining, and they deserve these grants. I’m just so honored to have been a small part in helping make that happen.”
