Catskill Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Greene County schools, welcoming 574 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 64.8% of the Catskill Elementary School's total enrollment.

Among the 16 schools in Greene County, Scott M. Ellis Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 492 students, while Cairo-Durham Elementary School welcomed 439 students and came in third in the 2022-23 school year.

Catskill Elementary School is part of Catskill Central School District, which roughly covers three schools within Greene County and has a main office in Cairo.

In the previous school year, Catskill Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Greene County schools.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
